Kemopetrol is a Finnish band from Helsinki that combines traditional lyrical pop melodies with modern aesthetics in their work. The name of the group was formed on behalf of the Czech hockey player Hemopetrol Litvinov.
The band was founded in 1998 by guitarist Marko Soukka and keyboardist Kalle Koivisto originally as an ambient project. Vocalist Laura Narhi, bassist Kari Myohanen and drummer Teemu Nordman joined the band in 1999. The group's first single "Child Is My Name" was released in late 1999, and in 2000 the debut album "Slowed Down" was released, combining rock, jazz and electronics. In 2002 the single "Saw It on TV" and the album "Everything's Fine" were released, in 2004 the single "My Superstar" and the album "Play for Me" were released. The fourth album, "Teleport", was released in March 2006, and you can already feel the disco spirit of the 80s in it, for example, synthesizer sounds.
In 2003, Kari Myohanen left the band and was replaced by Lauri Hamalainen.
