Founded on June 1, 1980, Trbovlje, Slovenia - Yugoslavian (now Slovenian) musical group, one of the most famous artists working in the style of industrial and groove rock.
The band members chose the German naming convention for the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. At that time the collective collaborated with the Irwin art group and the Rdeci Pilot theater. In September, the Laibach group launched their first project, Red Districts (Slovenian: Rdeci revirji), challenging the city's political structure at the time. The project was banned even before its opening for the "incorrect and irresponsible" use of black crosses by Kazimir Malevich, and the group was unable to appear on stage, although this caused a protest from the press. The conscription soon spreads the band members all over the country, but even so they manage to organize an exhibition of their graphic and musical works in Belgrade on June 14, 1981 ..
The band's first live show, подrtve letalske nesrece (Plane Crash Victims), took place on January 12, 1982 in Ljubljana, on the stage of the FV club.
After a concert in Zagreb on December 11, 1982, Hostnik committed suicide.
In April 1985, the debut album of the band Laibach was released on the SKUC label.
There are elements of militarism and totalitarianism in the band's music and concert performances.
