Born October 16, 1958 in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, where his parents were deported twice, in 1940 and again in 1949. A year later, the family returned to Latvia and he grew up in Cesis, in the north of Vidzeme.
Graduated from the Acting Department of the Theater Faculty of the Latvian State Conservatory. J. Vitola (1982). In 1982-1993. worked at the Dailes Theater, acted in films.
1989 and 1990 spent abroad, lived in Sweden and the USA.
In 1993, he left his acting career and went into the restaurant business, opening several popular restaurants including Osiris, Symposium and Deco-bar. Appointed General Director of the Latvian National Opera in August 1996.
