Was born on August 13, 1929 in Baku. In 1956 he graduated from the Romano-Germanic department of the Yerevan State University, in 1957-1961 he studied at the graduate school of the Institute of Literature in Yerevan, and then - the Institute of World Literature in Moscow. Since 1961 - at the cinema "Armenfilm", editor, assistant director, director. He worked as a trainee director on the film "Andrei Rublev" by Andrei Tarkovsky, who was the artistic director of the film "Tart Grapes" .
He passed away on April 7, 1990 in Yerevan.
