Svetlana Svirko was born on July 26, 1969 in Leningrad. She worked as a librarian at the M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin State Public Library.
In 1996 she graduated from the Faculty of Acting and Directing of the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts (“Workshop of G. A. Tovstonogov”, course of Doctor of Art History, Professor IB Malochevskaya), specializing in drama directing.
She became famous as a theater director after staging the play "Zaklikuhi" according to her own script. The performance, nominated for the Golden Soffit Theater Award, was successfully accepted at the Avignon Festival.
Teaches directing and acting at the St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts.
