Carey Mulligan was born in Westminster, London, England to Stephen Mulligan and Nano Booth. Her father is from Liverpool and her mother is from Llandaleo, Wales. At the age of three, Mulligan, together with her parents and older brother Owain, moved from England to Germany, where her father got a job in the large hotel chain InterContinental Hotels.
From August 2009 to October 2010 she met with Shia LaBeouf, a co-star in Wall Street: Money Doesn't Sleep .
In August 2011, she became engaged to musician Marcus Mumford, the leader of Mumford & Sons. They got married on April 20, 2012, and the wedding took place in Somerset, England.
