American actor with English roots.
Born June 6, 1940 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK, where his mother was evacuated from Manchester due to bombing raids. At 19 he immigrated to the United States. Served in the army to expedite the acquisition of US citizenship. Very well educated. He began his acting career, and is still faithful to him, in the theater, being already at the age of 37.
His most famous role in the television series Frasier (1993-2004), Martin Grain, a former police officer, disabled, earned him two Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe.
One of his most famous theater awards is the 1986 Tony Award (theater Oscar: wink: for his role as Artie Shaughnessy in The House of Blue Leaves.
