She was born on April 15, 1960 in Copenhagen in the family of a Jewish immigrant from Nazi Germany. In addition to Suzanne, the family had two more children.
The future director studied architecture in Israel, was interested in design and came to the conclusion that the film industry is a logical continuation of her hobbies. She graduated from the Danish Film Academy in 1987 and began her career as a filmmaker.
The first film, the mock documentary Notater om Korlighedon, was filmed in 1989. In 2002, Suzanne Beer met screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen. The auto duo of Bier and Jensen has proven to be very productive.
Thus, the film "The Brothers" won the Audience Award at the Sundance 2005 festival, and the film "After the Wedding" won 9 international awards, becoming one of the best films of the year 2006.
