Mona Washbourne was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire and began her entertaining professional training as a pianist. Her sister Catherine Washbourne was violinist with the Bbq Symphony Orchestra under Sir Adrian Bolt.
Washbourne has performed professionally since the early 1920s. She married actor Basil Dignam. Her brother-in-law Mark Dignam was also a theater and film actor. In 1948, after numerous stages of musical performances, Mona began to appear in films.
She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in Featured in a Game.
She died at the age of 84 in London.
