Born July 18, 1950
The former head of BBC Films has received numerous awards throughout his career, including three BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globes and three Emmy Awards. He has produced over 100 films. Especially outstanding among them: "Billy Elliot", "Iris", "Dirty Charms", "Scandalous Diary", "The Road of Change", "Aquarium", "Vice for Export", "Closed Life", "My Summer of Love", Sensory Education, Bright Star and Crazy Special Forces .
Throughout his career, Thompson has introduced the world to such young directors as Pavel Pavlikovsky, Lynn Ramsey, Andrea Arnold, Saul Dibb, Dominic Savage, Sarah Gavron, Francesca Joseph, Justin Chadwick and Nick Murphy.
