Born on February 2, 1944. She began her acting career in theaters in Dushanbe and Liepaja. From 1967 to 1973 she played at the Riga Russian Drama Theater. Graduated from GITIS in absentia (workshop of Nina Mikhoels). After moving to Leningrad, she was admitted to the Leningrad Theater named after the Lenin Komsomol. There Alla Sokolova made her debut as a playwright. Her third play "Faryatyev's Fantasies" was staged almost simultaneously by several leading theaters of the country: the Leningrad BDT (this play was chosen for his directorial debut by Sergei Yursky in 1976), the Moscow Sovremennik, TsTSA, the Riga Drama. In 1979, the play was filmed for television by Ilya Averbakh.
Alla Sokolova's plays were staged abroad and went all over the country: "Who is this Dizzy Gillespie?", "House is half mine", "Eldorado", "People, animals and bananas" .
In 1990, S. Proskurina's film "Accidental Waltz" was released, where Alla Sokolova played the main character. For this work, the actress won the Best Actress Award at the Marseille International Film Festival. She was married to actor Sergei Dreyden. Son - director and screenwriter Nikolai Dreiden.
