She was born on October 6, 1963 in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Graduated from Harvard University with a degree in political science. She made her film debut in 1982 with a small role in the television series. During her film career she starred in more than 40 films, among which the most popular ones brought her "Back to the Future 2", "Back to the Future 3" and "Leaving Las Vegas". In 2006, Elizabeth was invited to play the lead female role in the film "Number 23", but the actress was forced to refuse due to pregnancy.
In 1994, Elizabeth married Davis Guggenheim. In 1997, they had a son, Miles William, in 2001, a daughter, Stella, and in 2006, a daughter, Agnes.
