Lordi is a famous Finnish rock band performing their music in the hard rock genre. The band became famous for their performances in costumes and masks of monsters, as well as horror themes in the plots of the songs. Nevertheless, the group has successfully existed since 1992 and occupies far from the last places in the modern world of rock music.
The founder and one of the main ideologists of the group is Tomi Putaansuu, aka Mr. Lordi on stage. Inspired by idols such as Kiss or Alice Cooper, Putaansuu created a rock band that had to follow the rules of entertainment heavy metal, and he did it well. But Lordi gained real fame in 2002, when their debut album Get Heavy was released, the tracks from which entered the music charts in Finland and also abroad. Their image became something completely new, consisting of collective images of all the horrors that human fantasy could create: the mummy of Amen, Enami, who looks like a powerful Valkyrie, the zombie biker Kalmu and the alien beast Kitu. At the head of this "army" Lordi is the dark lord and leader of his fantastic team. Lordi's incredible stage roles have become the band's trademark.
Having received platinum status for their debut album, the musicians did not stop there. In 2004, the new album The Monsterican Dream was released, which became no less popular. The group developed, always added something new to their image, made them adopt their shocking style. A great achievement was the participation in the Eurovision song contest, where the new hit Hard Rock Hallelujah won the deserved first place. Definitely, the Finns did not expect such a result, but they greeted their winners as heroes.
This group exists to this day and is not going to give up its positions, successfully releasing new tracks and periodically performing with concerts. How many years Lordi have existed and have never disappointed their fans, have not left the philosophy of creativity created by them. In 2014, the leaders of the band announced that a new album would be released soon.
