Soviet actor, director. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1943) .
Graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and a drama studio in Moscow, a student of Osip Pravdin. Since 1918 in the Red Army, he played in the army theater. Later he was an actor and director of the Krasnozavodsky Kharkov Theater. In 1927, together with the theater, he moved to the Far East. Since 1931 - actor and director, then artistic director of the Sverdlovsk Drama Theater and theaters in Kirov, Perm, Rostov, Vladivostok. In 1950-1952 - the chief director of the Leningrad BDT. Since 1952, he has held responsible positions in the Department of Arts, since 1953, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture of the Leningrad City Council.
