Art collector, director, actor.
Father - architect Abram Ignatievich Shuster.
Graduated from the art history faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Painting named after Ilya Repin (1959), - the All-Russian Revolutionary Commission at the Lenfilm cinema (1967, workshop of Grigory Kozintsev).
In 1959-1960 he was a freelance inspector of the protection of monuments of the Department of Culture of the Leningrad Oblast Executive Committee.
In 1960-1961 he was the director of the chronicles of the "Turkmenfilm" studio, in 1961-1965 he was the director of the "Lenkinochronicles", since 1967 - the director of the "Lenfilm" studio. Author of works on cinema and the theory of fine arts.
He died suddenly of a heart attack in Germany on the opening day of the Berlin-Moscow exhibition.
