Born on June 27, 1895 in the village of Zaitsevo, Bakhmutovsky district, Yekaterinoslav province (now part of the city of Gorlovka, Donetsk region of Ukraine).
In 1917-1921 he studied at the Kharkov Conservatory.
Since 1921 he was a soloist of the Kharkov Opera House, in 1925-1930 - the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater, in 1930-1954 - the Bolshoi Theater. Reisen created perfect vocal and stage images in the operas of Russian composers. Reisen is a subtle interpreter of chamber music. Has toured abroad.
People's Artist of the USSR (1937) .
He passed away on November 25, 1992 in Moscow.
