Born on October 30, 1894. She studied at the Institute for Noble Maidens. When his father died, the family moved to St. Petersburg, closer to the mother's sisters. She has made an invaluable contribution to the education of several generations of filmmakers. Among her students: Nonna Mordyukova, Rufina Nifontova, Maya Bulgakova, Vyacheslav Tikhonov, Nadezhda Rumyantseva, Svetlana Druzhinina, Leonid Kuravlev, Sofiko Chiaureli, Tamara Nosova, Lyubov Sokolova, Maya Vinogradova, Tamara Syomina. In 1948-1950 he was the artistic director of the Moscow Central Children's Theater. In 1939, Olga Pyzhova was the first of the Soviet actresses to receive the title of professor in the department of acting. For many years she headed the national studios at GITIS (Karakalpak, Uzbek, Tatar, Tajik, Lezgin, Turkmen, Moldavian). Her students formed the core of the troupes of many republican theaters.
