A musical group performing mainly pop-rock, formed in 1978 in Birmingham and was known as the "Birmingham Five". Popularity peaked in the 1980s, and even then, many fans gathered at Duran Duran's concerts, including Princess Diana. The group continues to perform successfully, despite the repeated lineup changes. The founder and leader of the group is Nicholas James Bates, a Birmingham born in 1962, better known as Nick Rhodes. It was he and his best friend and colleague - bassist John Taylor who created the band, inspired by the music of David Bowie and the rock band Roxy Music. The guys gave the name to their team in honor of the negative character of the fantastic film Barbarella in 1968. It was Dr. Durand-Durand.
In the early 1980s, the group successfully released several world-famous hits that took top positions in the US and UK charts, this is the hit Reflex and A view to kill - the soundtrack to one of the James Bond films. In 1981 their first album Duran Duran was released, a year later the next album Rio was released, a year later - Seven and Ragget Tiger, in 1986 - Notorius, in 1988 - Big Thing, another two years later - Liberty, in 1993 - The Wedding Album - it includes one of the most famous hits of the group "Come Undone". The following albums began to appear in 1995: Thank You, Medazalland (1997), Pop Trash (2000), Astronaut (2004), Red Carpet Massacre (2007), All you need is now (2010) and TBA, the last album released in 2015 year.
The Duran Duran group is 37 years old, and during this time, both the composition of the group and the style of performance have repeatedly changed. They performed in the style of new age, pop-rock, alternative rock, synth-pop, post-punk and the so-called new romantic. Of the participants, only the creators of the group did not change. In addition to Nick Rhodes and John Taylor, drummer Roger Taylor and vocalist Simon Le Bon now play in the band. It is in this composition that the group successfully tours today, is engaged in creativity, publishes albums, gathers fans (they even opened a bar in the style of Duran Duran in Moscow). It is worth mentioning that the movie theaters screened the film with Duran Duran: Unstaged, directed by David Lynch and Arclight Films. In the film, the members of the line-up played about 18 of their hits along with the guests of the film. Duran Duran songs are available online at many music sites.
