Grigory Abrikosov was born on August 30, 1930 in Moscow. He grew up in the family of Russian actor Andrei Abrikosov and from childhood decided to devote himself to theatrical art forever. After successfully graduating from college, the young actor worked for a short time at the Mayakovsky Moscow Theater. His most memorable role during this period was the incredibly convincing portrayal of Ferkhad in The Legend of Love. In 1956, Abrikosov moved to permanent work in the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater.
