Grigory Yaron was born on February 13, 1908 in present-day St. Petersburg. The legendary operetta actor and director grew up in the family of the talented journalist Mark Yaron and the legendary opera singer Eleanor Melodist. Already in childhood, he sang and danced with pleasure and soon decided to devote his life to theatrical art. He studied at the drama school at the St. Petersburg literary and artistic society, after which he was immediately invited to work at the Suvorov Theater, where he first appeared on the big stage in the small role of Petya Rostov from the production of War and Peace. After that, there were many years devoted to numerous trips to large cities of the Russian Empire, where the actor successfully gains experience and hones the skills of a comedian on the stage of theaters in Kiev, Moscow, Kharkov, Odessa and other large cities.

After returning to St. Petersburg, the actor was invited to work permanently at the St. Petersburg Theater of Miniatures. This time can be called his formation as an operetta actor, as evidenced by the brilliantly performed roles of Baldwin in the production of the Princess of Trebizond Jacques Offenbach, Don Bolero in the play by Charles Lecoq Giroflet-Girofle, Petty Officer in the Bells of Corneville Robert Plunket and many other performances of this genre. Most connoisseurs of operetta remember the vivid roles of Grigory Yaron, in which he showed himself as an outstanding master of buffoonery, grotesque, ecentrics. In 1927, Grigory Yaron, together with several colleagues, founded the Moscow Operetta Theater, which forever became his favorite brainchild and allowed the director's talent to manifest itself. His debut work, which immediately attracted the attention of connoisseurs and fell in love with the audience, was the operetta of the Hungarian composer Imre Kalman, Princess of the Circus. Among the most famous works of Yaron are the performances of Silva, Violet of Montmartre, Wedding in Malinovka, co-written with composer Boris Alexandrov. In this production, he was remembered by millions of viewers in the form of the charming Greek Popandopulo. It is interesting that it was this performance that became the prototype of the cult Soviet musical comedy directed by Andrei Tutyshkin.

Millions of fans of the legendary comedian will remember him in the image of the nepman Ilya Ivanovich Samosadkin in the film by Mikhail Werner or the charming waiter Pelikan in the comedy Mr. X, directed by Yuri Khmelnitsky, based on the princess of the circus composer Imre Kalman.
