Born April 30, 1978, Suhl, East Germany - German actress.
As a child, she attended a theater club. From 1996 to 2000 she studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art. From 1999 to 2001 she worked at the Jena Theater, then for a year at the Leipzig Theater. Later, the playwright Oliver Held recommended her to the Basel Theater, where she played until 2006.
In 2006 she starred in the film Requiem. Her character - the girl Michaela, who died after the exorcism - was based on the real story of the German woman Annelise Michel. The picture brought the actress fame and several prestigious awards, including the Silver Bear for Best Actress and the highest German film award Deutscher Filmpreis, as well as the corresponding awards of several other festivals.
In 2007-2010, she starred in the films Madonna and Brownian Movement, and also embodied the image of Ulrike Meinhof in Nicolette Krebitz's novel The Unfinished Almanac Germany 09. In 2012 and 2014, she again received Deutscher Filmpreis for her roles in the films Only Heaven Above Us and The Dark World, respectively.
Sandra Huller continued to take part in theatrical productions and after her success in cinema. In various theaters she has performed, in particular, the roles of Courtney Love in For Love and Elizabeth I in Virgin Queen. After the 2012/2013 season, she was voted actress of the year by theater critics by Theater heute magazine.
