Vladimir Markovich Persov was born on December 4, 1945 in the village of Sobolevo, Bolsheretsky District, Khabarovsk Territory.

In 1969, he joined the staff of the Lenfilm film studio, where he worked almost until 2012. At first he worked as a mechanic for the maintenance of sound equipment, then as an assistant to a sound engineer. Over the years of work at the film studio, he graduated from the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute of Communications named after V.I. Professor M.A. Bonch-Bruevich (LEIS) (1981).

The first independent work as a sound engineer was the feature film "Rivals" (1985) directed by Viktor Sadovsky. In 1986, Vladimir Persov first worked with Alexander Nikolaevich Sokurov (feature film "Empire"). This was the beginning of their long-term collaboration.

Creative cooperation connects Vladimir Persov with the director Svetlana Proskurina (films "Accidental Waltz", "Remote Access", "Reflection in the Mirror" and "Truce").

VM Persov was awarded the Nika film award - For the best work of a sound engineer (the film Days of the Eclipse) and other professional prizes.

In 1997 V. M. Persov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

Professor of the Department of Sound Engineering, St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television.
