Yuri Safarov was born on July 10, 1971 in Tbilisi. His mom is a music teacher, dad is a businessman. Yuri dreamed of an acting profession since childhood. But since his parents were against it, he entered the Civil Aviation Academy, from where he was soon expelled for violation of discipline. Then Safarov was drafted into the army, he served in the Marine Corps. After demobilization he entered the Tbilisi Theater Institute. He worked at the Tbilisi Drama Theater. In 1994 he moved to Moscow.
