The group first met in 1985 when Hall and Flakus, former students of Western Illinois University, moved from provincial Macomb to Chicago. Soon the guys were joined by Sellers, an alternative gothic band of which repeatedly took part in the "CHES" STABBING WESTWARD in Chicago clubs. Later, the band included such musicians as Chris Vrenna (NINE INCH NAILS), David Suycott and Stuart Zeichman (both from FILTER). But because the band was always looking for the best musicians instead of “the best with the right attitude,” STABBING WESTWARD has become such an interesting band.
