Born on September 30, 1963 in the village of Privolzhsky, Astrakhan Region, in the family of students of the Technological Institute, who underwent pre-graduation practice here - Dmitry Viktorovich Bakonin and Natalia Pavlovna Bakonina (Konstantinova), who, after completing their practice, returned to Leningrad and worked until retirement at the Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Engineering ... In 1980, after graduating from school, Andrei entered the Leningrad State University at the Department of Arabic Philology of the Eastern Faculty. A year later he moved to the Department of History of the Middle East. In 1984, after completing the 4th year, he was sent on a special mission through the USSR Ministry of Defense to South Yemen as an Arabic translator to the 5th Special Purpose Airborne Brigade of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the NDRY. In 1985, after completing a special mission, he received the military rank of "lieutenant" and continued his studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, from which he graduated in 1986 with a degree in History of Arab Countries. In the same year, Andrei was assigned to the USSR Ministry of Defense and left for Krasnodar, where he served as a senior translator. In 1988, as part of a group of military specialists, he was sent to Libya and for three years served there as a senior translator at the Benin airbase (Benghazi city), and then in the chemical support troops of the Gaddafi national guard (Tripoli city). In 1991 he resigned from the USSR Ministry of Defense and, returning to Leningrad, got a job as a correspondent in the editorial office of the Smena newspaper. In 1993, Andrei Konstantinov was already in charge of the newspaper's criminal department, which he himself created. From June 1994 to June 1996, Konstantinov was the own correspondent of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" in St. Petersburg and north-west Russia. In June 1996, on his initiative, the Investigative Journalism Service was created, which began working at the Chance publishing house. Since February 1998, Andrei Konstantinov has been the general director and editor-in-chief of the information-analytical Agency for Investigative Journalism. Andrey Konstantinov is the author of the books "The Underworld of Russia", "Gangster Petersburg", "Lawyer", "Advocate-2", "Journalist", "Journalist-2", "Writer" and "Writer-2" Book "The Underworld of Russia" , written in collaboration with the Swedish journalist Malcolm Dixelius, was published twice in Sweden, and in 1998 a new version of it, "Russian Mafiosi", was released. Andrey took part in several television and film projects, was a producer from the Russian side in the creation of the film "Russian Mafia" by Swedish television. In May 2000, based on the novels of Konstantinov "Lawyer" and "Journalist" on the NTV channel, a 15-serial feature film "Gangster Petersburg" was shown. The film was shot by the famous filmmaker Vladimir Bortko, Andrei Konstantinov was a co-author of its script. Since 1998 he has been giving lectures at the Faculty of Journalism of St. Petersburg University "Methods and Practice of Investigative Journalism". Organized and conducted a series of seminars in St. Petersburg, Western Europe and various regions of Russia on topics related to the specifics of journalistic investigations. On December 19, 1999, as a result of a successfully conducted journalistic investigation, one of the accomplices in the murder of the deputy of the Legislative Assembly Viktor Novosyolov was discovered and transferred to the criminal investigation department. For this work, Andrey was nominated for the Government award. Andrey Konstantinov is the author of the idea and the founder of the main professional competition for journalists of St. Petersburg "Golden Pen" .
He was married three times. The last supuga is the theater and film actress Natalya Kruglova. On December 12, 2000, their son Dima was born, and on September 19, 2002, their daughter Lisa was born.
