Born April 6, 1933 in Moscow (Vladykino village) .
After graduating from the seven-year school, he studied at the oxygen-welding technical school, worked as a welder at construction sites in Moscow and at the same time studied at the acting department.
In 1959 he graduated from the Theater School. M.S. Schepkina.
In 1959-1963 he was an actor of the Sovremennik Theater;
In 1964-1967 he was an actor of the Taganka Theater;
In 1974-1977 he was an actor of the theater. M.N. Ermolova;
1977-1979 - theater actor on Malaya Bronnaya;
Since 1981 - an actor of the Moscow Art Theater (since 1989 - named after A.P. Chekhov) .
People's Artist of the RSFSR (1981).
