Born June 30, 1930 in Moscow.
In 1950-1952 he studied at the acting department of the Shchepkin Theater School. Graduated from the directing department of VGIK (1958, workshop of Sergei Yutkevich) .
Director of the film studio named after Gorky (1957-1958), "Moldovafilm" (1958-1960), "Belarusfilm" (1963-1994). Script for the short film "Don't Cry, Alenka" (1963), as well as some of his films.
Died on November 25, 1995. He was buried in the 4th section of the Miussky cemetery in Moscow.
