Born February 19, 1946, Moscow - Soviet and Russian composer, pianist, teacher and musical and public figure.
He studied piano at the Central School of Music, in 1965 he entered the Moscow Conservatory in composition classes by Tikhon Khrennikov and piano by Lev Naumov. After graduating from the conservatory in 1972, he improved in graduate school, since 1976 he has been teaching at the department of composition (since 1993 - professor, since 1997 - head of the department). Tchaikovsky has been a member of the Union of Composers of the USSR since 1976, in 1985-1991 he worked as its secretary for work with creative youth. From 1993 to 2002 - Repertoire Advisor at the Mariinsky Theater. From 2001 to 2002 - Visiting Professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. From 2005 to 2008, he served as rector of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. From 2003 to the present day - Artistic Director of the Moscow Philharmonic.
Tchaikovsky is actively involved in composing, teaching and musical-social activities, conducting numerous master classes, and participating in the jury of various competitions. He is also the author of critical articles for several leading music magazines.
