Born on January 5, 1936 in Tbilisi.
He studied at the Geological Prospecting Institute, graduated from the directing department of VGIK (1963, workshop of Grigory Roshal). Prior to studying at VGIK, he worked at the Georgia-Film studio, the Moscow studio of popular science films.
Since 1962 - director of the Gorky Film Studio.
He starred in the film Voices of Our Quarter (directed by Yuri Yerzinkyan).
Artistic director of the Ladya studio since its inception.
He passed away on August 12, 1999 in Moscow. He was buried at the Shcherbinskoye cemetery.
