Dmitry Iosifov was born in Minsk on October 22, 1965 in the family of a biologist and engineer. At the age of nine, Iosifov, who was studying at a figure skating school, was noticed by one of the employees of the Belarusfilm film studio and invited him to audition for the fairy tale about Buratino, which was planned by the studio. At first, the boy was approved for the role of Arlecchino, but later the film crew realized that Iosifov would make the “ideal” Buratino: organic, lively and cheerful. Despite the fact that Dima never had a desire to become an actor and perceived the shooting as another game, the viewer, young and old, sincerely loved him Buratino.
Only after the film was shot, Iosifov realized that he could no longer imagine himself outside the world of cinema. On the wave of success, he plays in the fairy tales About Little Red Riding Hood and Captain Daredevil. At the same time, Dima grew up in a family of workers, so for a long time he could not perceive acting as a profession. After school, young Iosifov seriously intended to enter the Polytechnic Institute, but since the exams were supposed to take place at the end of the summer, Dmitry, without hesitation, went to Moscow, where he easily entered VGIK. During his studies, Iosifov meets his future wife Natalya, and after the young people graduate from the university, the couple has a son, Andrei.
