On June 28, 1937, a wonderful Russian actor, Gennady Chulkov, was born. For his outstanding work he received the title of "People's Artist of the Russian Federation" in 2009.
Gennady studied acting at the oldest school named after M.S.Schepkin at the Maly Theater. Among his teachers was the winner of four Stalin Prizes, an outstanding figure of theater and cinema - Konstantin Zubov, as well as actors with a "capital letter": Veniamin Tsygankov and Viktor Korshunov. In 1959 he successfully graduated from college and joined the lavas of the First Regional Drama Theater in Moscow. Two years later, Gennady was invited to the Moscow Theater of Drama and Comedy (another name is the Taganka Theater). The period from March 1962 to August 1963 - he paid a debt to the Motherland, serving in the army. When he returned, he took the same place in the theater. In 1965, he decided to leave and began to earn a living by participating in performances of the Comedy Tour. A few years later, fate brought him to the east of Germany (then - the GDR), to the city of Potsdam, where he performed at the local theater. Later he decided to return to Moscow again to the theater, which was already called the Rosconcert Comedy Theater. Many years later, when the actor decided to move to the newly opened Theater on Pokrovka in 1991, his career took off.
The roles of Gennady Chulkov in this theater have brought him several state awards, including the State Prize for the excellent performance of the role of Scrambled Egg, in a comedy performance called The Marriage (based on the play by Gogol).
Films with Gennady Chulkov began to appear around 1964. His first role was Silantius in the film-biography of Ivan Lukinsky - Comrade Arseny. This was followed by roles in dramatic and military films Origins, Attraction, Ghost, Lullaby for Men, Strong Man, Wooden Cannon and others. After a small role in the TV series Liquidation (2007), he never appeared anywhere else.
