Peter Reusse is a German actor active in film and television. He was born in 1941 in the German city of Teltow (then the GDR). After graduating from school in Kleinmachnow, the artist went to study at the graphic faculty at the Berlin Academy of Arts. Having reached the age of eighteen, in 1959 he gave up graphics and went to the Babelsberg Film School. The actor graduated from this institution in 1963 and took up a theatrical career. In the early years Peter played as a freelance actor in Halle, Brandenburg and Zeitz. 1970 saw the transition to the German theater in Berlin, where the artist received a permanent job.
Peter Reusse's first film roles began in 1960. He played minors in all respects characters both on stage and in films. More and more films were offered to him, since in it the directors found expression of the spirit of modernity and reflection of the aspirations of a new generation. In the 1965 film, I just don't think, I'm crying, the actor played one of his first major roles, but the picture was banned due to its critical position and was released only in 1990.
Back in 1980, Peter played his namesake, the Tsar of the Russian Empire, Peter I. The film about him is called Peter's Youth and is a joint work of the USSR and the GDR directed by Sergei Gerasimov.
