In 2000, Alexander Tatarsky was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

Most of the films by Alexander Tatarsky and the Pilot studio have received festival awards. Screensaver for the program "Good night, kids!" was included in the Guinness Book of Records for the number of broadcasts.

Tatarsky was the president of the Open Russian Animated Film Festival in Suzdal and the head of the animation section at the Union of Cinematographers.

In 2007 he was a member of the expert council of the Golden Eagle film award.
