In 1974, an unusual child was born in Spain. And the point is not at all that the boy suffered from Down syndrome, but that he managed to break many stereotypes concerning people with such a diagnosis. In an interview, he himself shared his memories that he first heard about his illness from a doctor at the age of seven. And the main thing that interested the child at that moment: was he stupid? To which the doctor received an unequivocal answer - "no".
Pablo Pineda went to a regular school. In addition, he graduated from university. And he became the very first European with Down syndrome to receive a bachelor's degree. He works in education and educational psychology. Everyone who communicated with Pablo at least a little notes his excellent sense of humor. He even manages to joke about his illness and about the attitude of some people towards him.
In 2009 a film with Pablo Pineda was released. And not just with his participation, but where Pablo played the main role of Daniel, who has Down syndrome, that is, he essentially portrayed himself. His character is intelligent and educated, has a good job and is versed in art. And he falls in love with a girl, an ordinary healthy girl, who loves him back. In addition, there is another storyline in the film, which tells the story of a pair of two young men with a diagnosis, like Pablo-Daniel.
The feature film caused quite a stir around the world. And Pineda was awarded an award at the San Sebastian Festival for Best Actor and was nominated for a Goya Award. Despite his success, he admitted that he wants to continue his teaching career and not be an actor. Pablo Pineda combined these two roles in a new documentary film Alphabet of German-Austrian production, which tells about the shortcomings of the modern education system, the race for results and the consequences that this leads to.
