Anatoly Iosifovich Goryunov was born on December 4, 1902 in the city of Moscow. Since childhood, the boy bore the surname Bendel, which he later changed. The artist's mother was the sister of famous artists Ivan Moskvin and Mikhail Tarkhanov, who helped her raise the boy after the death of his father. At the time when the Civil War was taking place, Anatoly Goryunov was an employee of the Revolutionary Military Council.
After graduating from the theater school of the third studio of the Moscow Art Academic Theater in 1924, Anatoly Iosifovich becomes an actor of the B. Vakhtangov Theater. Since 1926, the actor has been working as the head of the literary and staging section of this theater. In addition, he is the artistic director and conducts pedagogical work at the theater school and at the Russian University of Theater Arts.
Anatoly Iosifovich first got into cinema in 1921. The first time he starred in the film Everything is in our hands. The roles of Anatoly Goryunov were most often satirical and comedic. For example, the vivid role of the violinist Schultz, who was an obvious adventurer and skillful businessman. Other main roles of Anatoly Goryunov were also prone to egocentrism, such as the director of the Glinka factory or the attractive engineer Karasik. In negative roles, the actor tried to sharpen his characteristics, creating completely unforgettable images, such as the impudent businessman Loiseau, the narcissistic gendarme captain, the arrogant hetman Chodkevich, or the bureaucrat Kutasov.
Anatoly Goryunov's filmography includes about a dozen works, in addition, in 1940, the actor, together with A. Remizova, directed the film Dangerous Turn. For his work, Anatoly Iosifovich was awarded the title of People's Artist, the Stalin Prize of the 2nd degree and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
The artist died on July 10, 1951 in Moscow.
