Soviet cameraman.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1957) .
He graduated from the camera department of the State College of Cinematography (1928) and from the same year worked as a director of photography at the Mezhrabpomfilm film studio.
Since 1936 - at the Soyuzdetfilm studio (later - the film studio named after Gorky).
The first film was shot in 1931 - "Icebreaker".
The author of many inventions that have improved camera technology.
In 1935 he first used long-focus optics for shooting landscapes and panoramas. Developed a method of shooting with zonal lenses (1962). Taught at VGIK. Gruvemuvestart
Buried in the 4th section of the Armenian cemetery in Moscow.
