Martina Gedeck was born on September 14th, 1961 in Munich, Germany. Martina's father, Karl-Heinz, was a businessman, and her mother, Helga, was engaged in painting. Since Martina Gedek was the firstborn in the family, she was often allowed and given a lot, especially in the early stages of life. As a 6-year-old girl, she often took leading roles in kindergarten matinees and performances. The mother noticed her daughter's hobby and, while working in the arts, realized that the daughter needed to be pushed and given the opportunity to develop. Since then, she began attending drama circles. The school was also a regular on the stage, for which she was nicknamed "the queen".
After leaving school, she decided to study acting at the Berlin University of the Arts, from which she graduated with honors. During her student years, Martina was often invited to take part in the shooting of amateur films, sometimes even to be a cameraman, to which she willingly agreed, never missing the opportunity to practice. In the 90s, she starred in low-budget films, gaining experience in the acting field. At first, the roles of Martina Gedeck were not very different from each other, more often she played minor characters. But over time, she began to be called for more and more prominent roles. In 2002 Martina was nominated by the European Film Academy in the category "Best European Actress". This brought her worldwide fame and demand.
