Inna Gulaya was born in the city of Kharkov in 1940. After graduating from school, she entered the theater studio at the Moscow Central House of Theaters. She worked at the factory for some time. Since 1962, the actress has been married to the poet and screenwriter Gennady Shpalikov. A year after the wedding, the couple had a daughter, Dasha. The situation was aggravated by Gennady's creative crisis and the lack of demand for Inna - she was less and less invited to act in films. In 1974 Shpalikov hanged himself in the country. And in 1960, Gulaya also committed suicide. The circumstances of her death are not known for certain; according to the most likely version, she died of an overdose of sleeping pills. She was buried at the Domodedovo cemetery near Moscow.
