June 16, 1925, Kaunas - October 14, 2005 - Russian composer of Lithuanian origin.
Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory as a pianist (1951, class of Maria Yudina) and composer (1960, class of Anatoly Alexandrov). In 1951-1954. taught at the Magnitogorsk College of Music. Later he worked in Moscow, led various instrumental ensembles (including the ensemble "Balalaika"), from 1965), in 1963-1964. Head of the Music Department of the magazine "Krugozor" .
The author of the ballet "Seventh Grader" (1962), the musical comedy "At First Sight" (1967), symphonies, piano and violin concerts, choral and instrumental music. He wrote a number of works for a variety orchestra, a significant number of variety songs, of which the most popular were "Old Mill" (repertoire of Muslim Magomayev) "Russian Gingerbread" performed by Zhanna Goroshcheni, "Penguins", "Echo" performed by the vocal quartet "Accord". Among other performers of Kuprevich's songs were Lev Leshchenko, Oleg Anofriev, Tatiana Shmyga. He is the author of music for many animated films, including "The Cuckoo Clock", "Jumping Fire", "Losharik" and others.
