January 23, 1956, Arkhangelsk, USSR (Russia) - April 1, 2018, Moscow, Russia - Russian playwright, theater and film director, screenwriter.

Studied at the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky, but did not finish it, left the 4th year; he is not on the list of graduates from 1971 to 2003.

In the mid-1990s, he was one of the organizers and members of the creative council of the "Debut Center" of the Central House of Actors. He worked on television: the author of scripts for the series "Petersburg Mysteries" and "The Diary of a Murderer" (co-authored by director Kirill Serebrennikov). He published plays in dramatic almanacs, the story "Analysis of Things" was published in the magazine "Friendship of Peoples". He was the head of the popular program "My Family" (RTR), which was hosted by Valery Komissarov. In 2002, for a short time he worked as a screenwriter in another project of Komissarov - the talk show "Windows" on STS.

Since 2009, he led the documentary theater direction of the creative management and directing of documentary films and documentary theater educational program at the Higher School of Journalism at the Higher School of Economics.

At the end of 2013, Ugarov took part in the TV project "The Past and the Duma", organized by the TV channel "Dozhd". In it, a group of actors read out on camera fragments of the transcripts of the most significant sessions of the lower house of parliament for Russian history.
