In 1967 he graduated from the camera department of VGIK, in 1978 - the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors (workshop of Gleb Panfilov).
He worked at Perm TV, then as an operator at the Belarusfilm film studio, the Alexander Dovzhenko film studio. He directed the films of Nikolai Mashchenko - "I'm Coming to You", "How the Steel Was Tempered", Nikolai Rasheev - "Theater of an Unknown Actor", Roman Balayan - "Kashtanka".
As a director, he directed the films "Meeting" (1979), "Date" (1982), "If you can forgive ..." (1984), "The wedding is accused" (1986), "Humble cemetery" (1989), "This is us Lord "! (1990).
