Born on February 25, 1951 in Moscow into a working class family.
He studied at a physics and mathematics school, intending to enter a technical university.
He began acting in films when he was still a schoolboy (They Shall Not Pass, 1965). He graduated from the acting department of the theater school named after B.V. Shchukin and the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1981).
In 1972-1980, he was an actor at the V.V. Mayakovsky.
Since 1994 - the author of the TV programs "Kinescope", "Parade of Stars", "Parade of Festivals" .
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1985).
People's Artist of the Russian Federation (11.04.1994) .
