Born November 17, 1898 in Tashkent.
In 1927 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, class of K.N. Igumnov (piano), studied composition under G.L. Catoire.
In 1927-1930 he taught piano at the music college named after. Gnesins.
In 1931-1933 he was the concertmaster of the All-Union Radio Committee, performed as a pianist.
Author of instrumental and vocal works, children's songs, music for more than thirty feature and animated films, film adaptations of the works of Soviet writers.
He died on February 24, 1962. The urn with the ashes of the composer was buried in the 4th section of the Donskoy cemetery.
