Leonid Filatov was born on December 24, 1946 in Kazan, in the family of a geologist (according to other sources, a radio operator). In the early 50s, the Filatov family moved to Ashgabat, where Leonid lived until graduation. The school years include the first classes in the drama club and the first literary experience (the first publication was a fable in the newspaper "Komsomolets Turkmenistan").
In 1965, Filatov came to Moscow to enroll in VGIK, but he did not have the required work experience and directorial development, and, on the advice of a classmate, decided to take exams at the acting department of the Theater School. She is the author of songs for the plays "Theater of Clara Gazul", "Martin Eden", "Once upon a time in California", "Hercules and the Augean Stables".
