People's Artist of the USSR (1954). Hero of Socialist Labor (1973). Laureate of four Stalin Prizes (1941, 1943, 1946, 1950), Lenin Prizes (1959) and USSR State Prizes (1971). Author of the music for the State Anthem of the Armenian SSR (1944). Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR (1963). One of the greatest figures in music of the XX century. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943.
