"Arda" is a Moscow band playing in the modern metal genre.
The group was founded by vocalist Pavel Okunev after his departure due to creative differences from the group "Epidemia".
It is believed that the name "Arda" is taken from the books of the English writer John Tolkien, although Pavel Okunev, in all interviews, says that Arda is an Indo-European word meaning "Earth" in the sense of our planet. The same root words with which are Erde (German "Earth"), Earth (English "Earth"), Al Ard (Arabic "Earth") and even the Russian "Tverd".
In February 2002, the Moscow melodic metal band prepared the first demo, and in August of the same year they made their debut in the Keeper of Dreams program on the Echo of Moscow radio station.
