Rudolf Grushinsky was born in October 1920 in Czechoslovakia. He represents a dynasty of famous actors. Rudolph's birth took place literally on the theater stage, right after the performance. On that day, his pregnant mother Hermione Chervichkova performed at the theater with a dance number. His childhood was spent on trips to all cities of the country. Rudolf's artistic family lived on travel until they settled in Prague.

Rudolph attended high school but never graduated because he was expelled. He prepared himself for the profession of a lawyer, but after a while he still became an actor. Rudolf Grushinsky began to play various roles at the Urania Theater in 1935. Around the same time, he also began filming in films. In his first images, he portrayed young lovers and students.

When the war years passed, Rudolf tried to work as a screenwriter and director, and played in many theaters in Prague. In 1960 he began acting at the National Theater, where he was invited by Otomar Kreutz.

Rudolph is primarily known to the Soviet audience for his role as Josef Schweik in the captivating Czech film Brave Soldier Schweik, which was released in 1957. And in 1962 he played Josef Strashlipka in the feature film The Great Road.

In 1968 he was blacklisted because of the signed 2000 Words manifesto. In 1977, Rudolph was lucky, and he played in a comedy film called Adela had not yet had dinner. Some sources said that he got the role thanks to longtime partner Milos Kopecky.
