Hanna Skarzhanka was born in Minsk in 1917. After some time, she began to live in Vilnius. After graduating from school, the girl entered two educational institutions at once - the Batory University and the Music Conservatory. However, she soon decided to transfer to the Faculty of Polish Studies and began to prepare for admission to the Higher Theater School in Warsaw. In 1940-1941 Hannah worked in the troupe of the Vilnius Maly Theater. During the years of occupation, Skarzhanka collected information for the military intelligence of Poland. In 1942 she was admitted to the Regional Army. At the same time, Hannah attended a conspiratorial theater studio and studied her favorite business - acting.
After the liberation of Vilnius, Skarzanka left the Republic of Lithuania and began performing on theatrical stages of the Polish cities of Olsztyn, Torun, Lodz, Poznan. But the most striking roles of Hanna Skarzhank were played in Warsaw. From 1949 she was at the Polish Theater for three years, then at the National Theater for five years. After that, the actress performed at the Comedy Theater for three years, and then changed her job again and moved to the "Athenaeum", in which she worked for the next fifteen years.
Hannah's film debut took place in 1946 - she was invited to the film Two Hours. She embodied the image of Teresa, Marek's former bride. Then there was a five-year hiatus in filming. A new film with Hanna Skarzhanka, Chopin's Youth, was released only in 1951. After the actress continued to periodically act in films. During her career, she managed to work on more than 30 paintings. Mostly Skarzhanka was invited to play minor characters, however, she had a chance to perform several main roles - for example, in the films Almost New Suit and Challenge.
In 1975, Hannah left the Atenium Theater and worked at the Studio for four years. Skarzhanka was also a gifted singer and performed in cabaret. She retired in 1979, but nine years later she returned to the Atenium stage.
The actress passed away in Warsaw in November 1992.
