Laimonas Noreika was born on November 27th, 1926 in Joniskis, Lithuania. Laimonas was lucky to be born into a wealthy family, and therefore his parents, being intelligent people, often visited the theater, where they took their young son. Subsequently, Laimonas Noreika became so fond of going to the theater that it became his only entertainment. He began to rehearse the scenes he saw at home and to demonstrate his talent to his parents, who, without hesitation, sent him to a drama circle so that he would develop his talent. In the prestigious gymnasium where he was sent, the name of Laimonas was always heard, as he was considered a local star due to his love of performances and frequent performances.
After school, in 1944, Laimonas enters the theater as an ordinary actor, as he wants to gain experience and learn how a real theater works from the inside. Sometimes he took part in the filming of films, which at that time were a novelty and, like most young people working on the stage, he considered this branch of art to be the future of theater. Since then he has decided to become a film actor.
In 1952 he entered the State Institute of Theater Arts named after A. Lunachersky, which he graduated with honors. After that, he started working at the Kaunas Drama Theater, where he gained very valuable experience. From the very beginning of his work in the theater, the roles of Laimonas Noreik were among the main ones. He quickly won the sympathy of viewers and colleagues. All his life, Laimonas worked in the theater and at the same time acted in films. The last film with Laimonas Noreik is called War and Peace.
Laimonas Noreika passed away on May 31, 2007. For his contribution to the development of cinematographic art he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Lithuanian SSR.
