Born January 8, 1953, Ashgabat, USSR (Turkmenistan) - Russian screenwriter, screenwriter and journalist.
Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation (2001). Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia. Head of the workshop of the screenwriting and film studies faculty of VGIK, associate professor. Lecturer at the Alexander Mitta Studio School in Moscow. One of the founders of the KIT Foundation for Support and Development of Creative Cinema Innovations (cinema, internet, television).
Graduated from secondary school number 23 in the city of Tula. Immediately after school, at the age of seventeen, she left for Moscow to go to college.
Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, after which she was assigned to Turkmenistan to work as a correspondent in the editorial office of the newspaper "Komsomolets Turkmenistan" in Ashgabat.
Upon her return to Moscow, Zoya could not find a job in her specialty for a long time because, as she believes, her non-partisan nature. Then she decided to stop going around the authorities in search of work. She entered the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors (VKSR) and successfully completed them. As a result, she retrained as a playwright.
Zoya Anatolyevna considers the famous screenwriter Valery Semyonovich Frid to be her teacher for writing screenplays.
In April 2006, Zoya Kudrya accepted an offer to become the artistic director of Amedia.
